小鹏汽车成立于2014年，以“三电一屏”（电机、电池、电控、中控大屏与仪表）开发为切入点，进行互联网汽车核心系统研发，是中国互联网造车的新锐力量。具备电动、智能、网联等几大核心能力，并率先建立起行业领先的三电研发、整车研发和生产能力。2015年初开始进入造型及整车研发阶段。2016年9月，小鹏汽车在北京发布Beta版样车，无论是外形、动力性能、智能度以及网联化，均获得了用户高度评价。并且，小鹏汽车从今年2月首台试制车辆下线，同步开始进行车辆试制及试验工作，目前已生产的一百多台试制车辆通过了各项严苛的测试，并于今年七月完成产品公告测试，成为国内首家拿到产品公告的互联网汽车企业。
目前小鹏汽车已拥有包括实验室、研发室、造型设计中心等功能的大型研发设计中心，同时，总面积达25,000平方米的试制实验中心正在加速建设中。2017年5月，小鹏汽车百亿级整车生产基地落户广东肇庆高新区。2017年6月，小鹏汽车获得由神州优车公司发起成立的优车产业基金领投的22亿元A轮融资。2017年10月12日，小鹏汽车首
